“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
(Galatians 2:20)
When Jesus dies on the cross and three days later God raises Him from the dead there is something amazing that happens. This is why Easter is celebrated each year because of this defining moment. This moment is where the new testament church launched from. This realization that we are no longer defined by our brokenness, but because of Christ we are defined by His faithfulness.
In my new position as Director of Student Ministries at St. Philips United Methodist Church I was looking to brand the ministry so that we would have some focus. Then the word pulse kept coming back to me. When you hear or feel a pulse you know that someone is breathing, alive, and here.
As disciples we are spirit led beings.
It’s not I that lives but Christ that lives within me.
The spirit pulsates from our core and it powers everything we do.
As it says in Colossians 3:17:
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
So the Pulse Student Ministries will have a mission of:
Becoming more and more like Christ and letting the love and grace of Jesus Christ being pulse that powers every part our lives.
Because with that we become more than we could on our own.
