Sanctification

“A theological term for the development of Christ-likeness, or Christ likeness, is both an instant step of faith and a gradual process of works.”

There is a common error that we think about ourselves and God.

Every single person on the planet has skeletons in their closet.

These skeletons are ever present in our minds and they convince us eventually that these skeletons may define us for who we are.

WHICH IS DEAD WRONG.

We are made in God’s image and too many times unfortunately we don’t consult God on these type of matters, but we should, because He defines who we are. He knows everything we have done, and everything we will do in our lives. We think that God obviously should think the same about us. That our sins and mistakes define us.

But He doesn’t.

One of the most amazing things about God is that HE MEETS YOU where you are, and HE ACCEPTS YOU for who you are.

When we accept God as our Lord and Savior we have but to take one step of faith in Him. We think that we have to fix ourselves before we do this, but its just one step and then God takes us on a journey of love and transforms our lives into something so much more.

There is no one that is like God

No one knows you like God does.

No one looks at you like God does.

You are worthy. Why?

Because God sent his Son to prove you are.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that God causes everything to work togethert for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Everyday there is always something on the news that always makes us wonder….

“What now?!”

Sometimes it just seems that the world gets worse and worse.

In response to all of the news that we are inundated with everyday we get twenty different theories on what’s happening and why its happening. Not to mention all the self-help 12 step programs that apparently provide some secret formula to allow us to finally experience the most incredible joy in our lives. While all of this is going on God says to the world:

“I work for the good.”

What an amazing word that He gives us everyday. In response to rising gas prices, a declining economy, and everything that we are concerned about, God says, “

I will redeem.”

Amazing.

No matter the situation, nothing is too BIG for our HOLY FATHER. Nothing.

If that word wasn’t enough to completely knock us off our collective feet it gets better.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, tneither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Make no mistake about it, the Lord made you and me and knows exactly what happens in our life. He knows the number of hairs on your head, what college you will attend, what degree you will pursue, and best of all HE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE. He knows EVERYTHING that you will do, GOOD AND BAD, and yet HE STILL LOVES YOU AND DECLARES THAT YOU ARE WORTHY. HE SENT HIS SON TO PROVE IT!

Holy God,

Help us always to open our hearts and clear our minds so that we completely focus on you. It’s all about you Father. It begins with you and ends with you. May we always live a life that glorifies you.

In Jesus Name,

Amen.

This is Hilarious

Recently I started a new reading plan for my daily bible study and in Genesis today I found quite a hilarious interchange between God, Adam, and Eve. Here is the passage starting in Genesis 3 verses 8-12.

When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the mans and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees.

Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
“Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”
The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

Ok, so this is clearly a passage that should not be strange because this interchange is one that happens all the time in our lives. This was in fact the first occurrence.
Couple of questions to ponder before the humor:
1. Why in the world would Adam and Eve try to hide from God? (He knows all)
2. Why does God ask who told them they were naked? why did he ask if they ate of the fruit? (Again He knows all)

Then Adam says a sentence that has forever labeled all males as complete and utter morons.

“I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”

Can’t you just see Eve’s face when he says this!? Its amazingly hilarious to me to imagine that.

But Adam’s not done yet. He shows us all who perfected the “foot in the mouth” technique.

“It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

WOW!!! So now Adam has officially blamed God for creating Eve and Eve for giving him food.

So, the next time we mess up and don’t want to accept that we screwed up in life and that somehow its either God’s fault or someone else’s maybe this passage will give you a laugh.
We all know though that the first night out of the garden Adam slept on the couch.
