Generous God vs. cheap church – UMC.org

At a stewardship seminar I recently attended, Nelson Searcy of the Journey Church in New York City said that a theology of abundance underlies everything his church does in terms of stewardship. If we expect people to be generous in their giving to the church, he said, then the church needs to model that generosity and sense of abundance.

Randy Alexander, Ninth Republican Senate Candidate | The Tolbert Report

An absurdly crowded Republican field for the nomination for U.S. Senate could get a bit more crowded this week as Randy Alexander from Fayetteville will make some sort of announcement on Tuesday. An email sent to area tea party activists this past week says that Alexander will be making a “new candidate announcement” on Tuesday, January 12 and lists him as a “Candidate for U.S. Senate.”

Woods says he let family down – Golf – Yahoo! Sports

“I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves,” Woods said on his Web site. “I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.”

I really like what my brother David Alexander had to say about this Tiger situation on his blog, Davids Bucket

I don’t know what happened early Friday morning. The truth is, it’s none of my business what happened on Friday morning at Tiger’s house. My gut tells me me that the details of what actually happened that night are not quite in line with the minimal story that the Woods family has shared with the media. Busting out the back window with a golf club in order to remove Tiger from a crash that happened at under 35 miles an hour doesn’t make much sense.

But it’s not my job to make sense of that. It’s not my job to try to figure that out.

It’s none of my business.
